Editor TV Brings the Party to the Small Screen

Editor TV interviews Metropolitan Home Editor-in-Chief Donna Warner

What's more fun than attending a party? Working a party! Just ask Joyce Wadler, the NYT scribe whose defunct Boldfaces Names column was recently resurrected in the Home section as Seen. (Yes, the interior-design crowd revels so frequently it deserves its own gossip column.) What's more fun than Seen? Editor TV, of course! Since hooking up with The Editor at Large, I've been hitting fine fetes around town—film crew in tow! Donna Warner, EIC of Metropolitan Home was one of Editor TV's first interviews, and she's not the only one to be put on the spot. Boldface designers from Christopher Coleman to Thom Filicia to Amy Lau to John Saladino are among our conquests. Next up: the grand opening of the new Buck House.

Sayonara Freelance, See You This Fall

Voos image, Michael Falco for The New York Times
There oodles of news at Sophie Donelson HQ today. In ascending order: Two items of note in the New York Times Home section today. First is an article I wrote about VOOS, a new furniture store in Williamsburg. (Thank you to designer Andrew Rumpler for tipping me off.) Right across the page--and next up in the Currents slide show--is a story about Flip For Decorating, the top-secret decorating book that I worked on last winter, which showcases the genius of author Elizabeth Mayhew, who's as multi-talented as Martha (she decorates! and writes! and cooks!)--and charming and sincere to boot. Finally, the biggie news: This summer I'd editing Hamptons Cottages & Gardens magazine. It was HC&G that gave me my entree to NYC publishing back in 2002 and I'm thrilled to return as editor this season. I'm scouting for news, products and ideas pertaining to design on the East End, so don't hesitate to send ideas. See you on the Jitney!

Tumbling Like Domino(s)

Picture 14.png
The February 2008 Domino; (rightfully) pouty cover girl Zooey Deschanel; and the $3,500 pair of sconces featured on page 25

Domino, the plucky Conde Nast decorating title, will curtsy its way off the shelter mag stage with its March issue, joining Country Home, Cottage Living, O at Home and a slew of others when it does so. It wasn't a lack of readers (its circ--exaggerated or not--was around 800,000); nor a dearth of substance (the ideas and photography were generally bar none). What's the issue, you ask?
